Hong Kong has one of the world’s freest entry and exit policies, and for a lot of countries, a visa isn’t required. Here is everything you need to know about visa requirements when visiting Hong Kong. People of around 170 countries are allowed entry into Hong Kong without a visa, and can stay for 7 days to 180 days depending on the country.
Nationals of the US, Europe, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea and Japan can enter Hong Kong without a visa for 90 days. Nationals of the UK can stay for 180 days without a visa.
Visitors holding Saudi passports are allowed entry into Hong Kong without a visa for up to 30 days, and nationals of Russia can enter Hong Kong without a visa for 14 days.
Indians are allowed to stay for 14 days without a visa but must complete a Pre-Arrival Registration (PAR) before arriving in Hong Kong. The PAR can be done online on the GovHK website, and must be printed out and shown on arrival.
Nationals of Pakistan must obtain a visa to enter Hong Kong.
Nationals of Thailand and Indonesia are allowed entry into Hong Kong for 30 days without a visa. Nationals of Philippines are allowed entry into Hong Kong for 14 days without a visa.
All visitors to Hong Kong must have a passport that is valid for 1-6 months (depends on nationality), after the period of their intended stay in Hong Kong.
Visitors can apply for a Hong Kong visa at the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate, or submit the application to the HKSAR Immigration Department by post or through a local sponsor. On average it takes 4 weeks to process a visa. An ordinary visa will cost HKD 190.
