Hong Kong has one of the world’s best public transport systems, so it comes as no doubt that travelling overground by bus is a great way to get around the city, often with direct buses to iconic attractions. Let’s get started!
There are 3 main bus operators in Hong Kong: KMB, First Bus, and City Bus. KMB is the largest bus service in Hong Kong, and mostly serves the Kowloon side of the city. First Bus and City Bus run throughout the city.
Most buses in Hong Kong are double-deckers, so get a seat upstairs to enjoy the view during your journey. They’re all air-conditioned and some also have wifi. It’s a good idea to use buses outside of rush hour time (7-9am and 5-7pm). A lot of buses provide accessibility to outlying areas of the city. Routes run every 5-20 minutes, so you’ll never have to wait too long. Most routes also run from 6 am all the way up to midnight or 1 in the morning. After that, there are some night bus routes connecting different areas of the city.
